Small House Studio

Small House Studio is my independent art and clothing practice, based in San Francisco. It brings together my love of printmaking, textiles and the natural world through the reworking of pre-loved garments and original hand-carved linocut prints.

Inspired by the forms, patterns and intricacies of nature, I create original designs that are carved, inked and individually printed onto fabric using oil-based inks. The process is entirely hands-on, and the natural variations of printmaking mean no two pieces are ever quite the same. Each garment is an individual expression of the design and the making process behind it.

I carefully source second-hand clothing, with a preference for quality, craftsmanship and natural fibres. I love the idea of giving existing pieces a new life, finding beauty in what already exists rather than always creating something new.

With a background in art and graphic design, I approach my work through both an artistic and visual lens. I'm drawn to the slower, tactile nature of traditional printmaking and the opportunity it gives me to connect with the materials I work with.

For me, making is a way to slow down and feel more connected to the world around me. I'm continually inspired by the natural environment and the intricate relationships within it. I believe we are part of nature, not separate from it, and that caring for the world around us is inseparable from caring for ourselves. Through Small House Studio, I hope to encourage a more thoughtful relationship with the things we make, wear and keep.
